The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
It’s been a year since I started my blog and I want to reflect on the changes I'm seeing in that year. We are in the midst of a tremendous shift in consciousness in the United States and I see the examples of it everywhere. Although it may seem like the end, it is really the beginning of something much greater.
Dr. David Hawkins, author of Power vs. Force, says that in the last 10 years we have seen a movement of 12 points in his consciousness index, the largest increase in mankind. My friend Clive Prout, who is deeply involved in Spiral Dynamics, says he can literally feel more and more people climbing to higher levels of consciousness.
In Megatrends, it was said you can tell what is coming by studying the newspaper and looking to see what is covered. Here is an example of a headline that appeared recently, "Bringing God into the Boardroom". Here is another amazing headline from last week, "Walmart Going Green." You can say anything you want about Walmart, but them going green is a hugely positive step for the environment.
Look to what is happening with movies and TV. Crash won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It is a movie of people having to crash into one another to be touched. It is about people's need to change perspective. We've seen the success of "What the Bleep". Coming soon will be the "Celestine Prophecy" and "Conversations with God." Hollywood is sensing where people are headed.
On the TV front, MTV, of all people, has introduced an eco-travel show, a documentary on the Holocaust and mini-films promoting spiritual awareness.
Once fringe products, these products are now becoming the mainstream. Tom's of Maine was just purchased by Colgate. Previously Odwalla (healthy drinks) was purchased by Coca Cola. A friend I have in the business says there is huge interest in most major companies for creating eco-friendly products.
The war in Iraq and the policies of President Bush and his team are having a very positive influence in the world. That's right you heard me right. What is happening is forcing people to take a stand. It is forcing people to get organized to look at their own lives and to realize they/we are the ones we have been waiting for. The changes we need in how we relate to each other and how we treat our ecosystem need to happen. It’s not going to come from some politician or from our neighbors. We have to lead the charge. I am not denying the short term pain we are all feeling, but it is leading to a huge shift that we will look back on as being one of the major happenings of mankind.
And finally, I see the changes in the wonderful work the people I get to be with are doing. They are out to make a difference and aren't willing to wait any longer - for the times they are a-changin.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
The times are changing, the wonderful conversations you describe are happening, and the next question is: how to have discernment as tp what to follow/track? As our bookkeeper extraordinaire reminded me today, two our key principles are: (along the lines of Tolle)
Consciousness and Presence—Being conscious and present to the reality of each moment as it unfolds allows us to be with life as it is. This may be the most powerful thing we can do for ourselves, those in our lives and the planet.
Next, is being in relationship: It is in and through relationship we come to know ourselves.
So these new iniatives/themes have to hold certain values and criteria of presence and relationship to others, to the whole.
