I often say to my clients "What if it was all one? " What I mean by that is what if everything you had going on in your life all was related. Another way of saying this is what if you were pursuing your mission in life and all of the activities lead to that purpose.
For the past 6 years I have been coaching visionaries and entrepreneurs. The process has involved helping people create Vision Stories of what their lives will be like in the future. They write the stories as if they have already happened. Magic that happens when people get clear on their passions, values and purpose. Things they never thought possible materialize. The universe conspires to make their dreams reality.
While this was happening for my clients I had this sadness of knowing there was something else I was supposed to do but not knowing what it was. I have been patient waiting, meditating, doing my work and searching. This past year I found what it is I'm here to do. It started with an email with a link to a You Tube video by Malcolm Cohan of Sydney Australia called "Think It So." He was creating Vision Statements on the Internet. Knowing how powerful creating visions is I knew this was something I was to do. I brought Malcolm to the states in June to hold Vision Video seminars and plan what was next.
In the summer I knew I should go to a conference, didn't know what. I found a conference called Storyfield in Greeley, Colorado. The conference was all about creating the stories for a world that works for all. I shared what I was doing to create Vision Videos and a group of 25 people were interested in working with me to bring these videos to the world.
I knew that there were huge changes going on with the Internet and began a search for a software that would make it easy to create vision videos and host them on the Internet. After a lengthy search I found a Silicon Valley start up called One True Media that had created exactly the software I was looking for.
In October my 10 year old son's class had career day. Adam asked me to come speak. I agreed and together we created a vision video with the new software for him. At the class I showed my vision video, one of Malcolm's vision videos and then Adam's vision video. The kids went nuts and in 2008 I will be working with his class to create vision videos for all of the students. I realized from this that the way to bring vision videos to the world was through kids.
In November I was up on Lake Superior with my friend Steve Borsch
brainstorming on how to help get something going with vision videos. I
heard a little voice say "You've already done this, don't make it so
hard." When I searched for what I'd already done I remembered that in
1999 while at a company called techies.com I had invented a national
holiday to celebrate technology professionals called TechiesDay. It was
a huge success. We had a shortage of technology professionals and TechiesDay addressed that need.
TechiesDay was endorsed by then Vice President Al Gore. We had a symposium put on by the Secretaries of Education and Commerce. We had 100,000 users register on our web site and hundreds of schools had technology professionals visit them and talk about the importance of taking science and math. Our sponsors included Microsoft, FedEx, AOL, Best Buy, CNET and many others.
Which leads to today. What we need more than anything in the world are more visions of hope and possibility. We have become a nation of negativity and fear, much of it broadcast on television news. Unless we change our current course we will become what we envision.
That is why I am starting an international holiday to celebrate vision called "Telavisionday." The first Telavisionday will be held on 3.20.09. On the day we will have schools around the US celebrate the importance of vision. We will encourage people from all walks of life go to schools and talk about their visions realized. We will give schools the tools to help their students create vision videos. We will have national spokespeople interviewed by the press. We will begin a movement to bring more vision into our country and the world.
Sound crazy, well sure, no great idea ever made sense to the majority when first presented. But it will happen, I can already see it. Not overnight. My goal is that by 2011 we will have enough impact that the 2012 elections become driven by the candidates Visions for the world. Now that is something worth living for.
Stat tuned and if you would like to participate send me an email.
